Rewired Music is Anna’s debut album. Together with pianist & composer Pavel Timofeyevsky they began to create their own virtuosic transcriptions for flute and piano during the first pandemic lockdown in April 2020.
After their recital at St John’s Smith Square Get the Chance wrote:
“Thanks to these arrangements you felt as if they were written for flute originally.”.
In August 2024 the duo’s transcription of Debussy’s Sonata was published by award-winning Flute
Specialist Shop in London Just Flutes. Flautist Chris Hankin wrote:
“The combination of the special music of Debussy and a sensitive arrangement is hard to resist and this is exactly what we have here. Anna Kondrashina has pitched this to ensure that Debussy’s strong lines are best served by the colours the flute. This results in alterations to the registrations and divisions of the material between flute and piano that are very effective. It’s almost as if Debussy knew this piece would eventually be arranged for us and made sure it would work!”.
Following successful sales and glowing reviews of the Debussy sonata Just Flutes offered Anna and Pavel to publish all of the transcriptions that they intend to record on the “Rewired Music” album.
The transcription that Anna and Pavel are most proud of is their arrangement of Beethoven’s Sonata in G (after String Trio Op. 9 No. 1), which they premiered in London in May 2024. Drawing on their extensive arranging expertise, the duo masterfully reimagined Beethoven’s string ensemble masterpiece, transforming it into a work that feels naturally suited to the flute and piano. In their approach, they aim to remain faithful to the composer’s original intentions while ensuring the music sounds organic and cohesive in its new instrumentation. Anna and Pavel selected these pieces not only for their personal affinity with the music but also because they believe these arrangements work seamlessly both as a recital programme and as a cohesive album. Their goal is to enrich the flute and piano repertoire by offering these transcriptions to fellow musicians worldwide. Through the Rewired Music project, Anna and Pavel aim to bring greater visibility to these unique arrangements by recording and publishing them for the global flute community.
The Rewired Music album has been recorded by Anna & Pavel in January 2026 for 7 Mountain Records in the Netherlands by Frerik de Long and will be released in early 2027.
